An $8 million rejuvenation of the Blood on the Southern Cross sound and light show will start after the final performance on July 29.
Acting chief executive officer Terry Lloyd said more than 1.9 million visitors had seen the Eureka rebellion story since it started in 1993.
More than 10,000 performances have showed the dramatic battle between gold miners and government forces at Ballarat on December 3, 1854.
“Blood on the Southern Cross tells the most incredible story of a defining moment in the development of democracy in Australia; that of the Eureka Stockade,” Professor Lloyd said.
“We’ve seen almost two million visitors come from all over the world to witness our dynamic show over the past two decades.
“We’d encourage visitors to book in for their chance to see the show in its final season.”
Following the final season on July 29, Sovereign Hill will introduce new lamplight tours for visitors each night.
The tours will see Main Street and the goldfields come alive under the night sky with illuminated streets throughout the grounds.
The new sound and light show will then re-launch in 2019.
Andrew Walsh, who has delivered Melbourne’s White Night and Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies, will lead the revamp.
Sovereign Hill announced the Blood on the Southern Cross’ rejuvenation in June last year, saying the show had last been revamped 15 years ago and there was now more technology available to help with lighting and sound.
Regional Development minister Jaala Pulford said at the time the government was pleased to deliver on an election promise to invest in job-creating projects in regional Victoria.
The government has supported Blood on the Southern Cross over the years, through Regional Development Victoria.
Sovereign Hill said RDV’s generous support had enabled it to redevelop the new sound and light experience.
