After a poor opening term, Ballarat Skoda Rush fought hard to bring the South East Australian Basketball League game back on level terms and even led by a point at the final break. But a competitive fourth quarter meant scores were tied 69-69 at the buzzer.
It was Canberra that managed to get in front of Rush by a single point at the end of overtime to claim the victory.
Canberra, sitting 12th on the ladder heading into the round, is now two games clear of Rush.
Rush will take to the court again on Saturday at the Minerdome facing a tough third-placed Nunawading.
