The BVC Jamboree consists of 240 athletes, 18 young referees, 24 coaches and 24 team staff, who will get the chance to develop their skills in Echuca in September.
It comes after BVC held an under-12 skills day at nine regional centres across Victoria last weekend.
BVC regional head coaches and volunteer network coaches helped run the day at each centre. The top 240 junior athletes – 120 males and 120 females – were selected from nearly 1000 participants to represent their clubs and associations.
“BVC have worked over the last few years to ensure that the opportunities to attend a Jamboree event have been increased,” BVC’s participation coordinator Craig Hockley said.
“As local associations increase participation numbers and BVC accept more participants at skills days, we need to provide good opportunities for athletes selected.”
But Hockley said another important part of the skills day was coach development with about 133 coaches taking part, while he was impressed with the talent on display from the athletes.
“Each year it is evident that local associations are working at developing their athletes,” he said. “It is a challenge for our coaches to select just 240 for the BVC Echuca Jamboree.”
