Peter Dawson, 35, along with Kerri Pike, 54 and Toby Turner, 34, died while skydiving at Mission Beach in far north Queensland last October in what was described as the worst skydiving accident in Australia’s history.
Mr Dawson, a former Ballarat High School student was a highly trained and respected skydiver, racking up thousands of jumps over more than a decade.
He was also a passionate environmentalist and an advocate for people's rights.
A pre-hearing meeting on Monday was told the trio were the last to jump from the plane and did so within seconds of others.
Up to 19 witnesses are expected to be called to give evidence at the hearing which is expected to run over five days, beginning late November.
