The Dragons’ Zoe Wathen was deemed one of the best on ground after booting three goals in the semi final, while team mate Georgia Fogarty kicked two.
East Point managed to build its lead every quarter, keeping Carisbrook scoreless in the first term and goalless for the game.
But the Lions did well to hold East Point to just a single goal in the final term.
Meanwhile, in the other semi final on Sunday, Gisborne defeated Bacchus Marsh by just three points in a thriller at Western Oval.
After a hotly contested first half, Gisborne missed opportunities in front of goal, which would have helped to build a buffer. Instead it had just the one major and six behinds at half-time.
Although the Cobras had not made an impact on the scoreboard early, they were still in the hunt with just 11 points separating the two teams at the main break.
But Gisborne came out firing in the third quarter to pile on three goals to Bacchus Marsh’s one and looked like running away with victory heading into the final term.
But the Cobras fought back in a last-ditch attempt to try steal the win, keeping the Bulldogs scoreless in a strong defensive display, while adding another three goals to the scoreboard.
When the final siren sounded, the Cobras were just three goals shy of the win in a gallant effort.
