The top order batsman has lodged a clearance from Victorian Premier Cricket club Melbourne, where he played last season.
Begbie is a first grade premiership player with Melbourne and last featured for the Red Caps in 2016-17.
He is a two-time flag winner with Wendouree and is a huge addition to the side’s batting stocks for the upcoming campaign under captain Gavin Webb.
Webb said the club was set to debut recruit Tom Hannett in the first grade this Saturday against North Ballarat.
Hannett has joined the Red Caps from Grampians Cricket Association side Navarre and shapes as a handy middle order batsman.
In other news, all-rounder Tom Le Lievre will try his hand in VPC with the Camberwell Magpies.
Le Lievre made 233 runs and took 24 wickets in Ballarat Cricket Association A-grade competition during season 2017-18.
