Rising won 55 points to 21, but it was the further engagement into Ballarat that pleased Melbourne Rebels general manager of rugby Nick Ryan the most.
Ryan praising the community and ground condition.
“It’s a step to continue our engagement with the community and particularly the school,” Ryan told The Courier.
“We were delighted with yesterday, the condition of the ground, the engagement of the school and the local rugby club and winning doesn’t do any harm either.
“It was a pretty good day on and off the field, and one we’re certainly keen to build on.”
Ryan said the club was in the process of ensuring the Rebels annual camp would be held in Ballarat for the next three years.
A camp was held this January.
It is also looking to hold clinics for budding female players.
