Shaun Campbell, the 2015 Geoff Taylor Medallist has returned to Victoria after three years as Wagga Tigers coach in the Riverina league.
This included a premiership in his first season year at the helm in 2016.
Campbell, 28, had one year with Ballan – winning the CHFL best and fairest with the second most votes in the award’s history – before moving to Wagga.
He arrived at Ballan from Ainslie in the ACT.
Campbell, who informed Wagga in July that he was returning to Victoria, joins Melton purely in a playing role.
He is the second CHFL best and fairest to join a BFL club this off-season.
This year’s winner Joel Mahar from Bungaree has been signed by reigning premier East Point.
Melton football manager Brad Jamison said the Bloods had had an addition to its midfield high on its recruiting wishlist.
“With most players signed up for next year, the coaching staff identified that another midfielder with experience and leadership would be beneficial,” he said.
Melton lost this year’s grand final to East Point by two points.
BUNGAREE premiership player and former North Ballarat Rooster Chris O’Keefe has a new coaching job.
He has moved to Caulfield in the Southern Football League.
O’Keefe has coached Sportswood and spent the past two years at Albion in the WRFL.
REDAN Football Netball Club has added to its hall of fame with three new inductees.
Life members Darryl Blomeley, John Lawless and Raj Muker have been honoured, while Fred Carpenter has been elevated to legendary status.
Blomeley was president for a record seven years, 2005-08 and 2012-13. Laweless is also a past president (1986-87 and 1990) and past secretary (2000-01), while Muker was president in 1994-95 and “Save the Lions” secretary.
