Ireland’s national game, which is combined with Australian Rules to form the yearly International Rules Series between Australia and Ireland, carries some similar skills to that of AFL.
Ryan has his sights set on fielding at least one team in three one-day tournaments through February.
Two will be held in Melbourne while the other in Geelong across February 2, 10 and 24.
Ryan, who is affiliated with North Ballarat City, said there was already about six interested players, but he was hoping for at least 12.
“We’ve had quite a few people messaging already, just by word-of-mouth we’ve had about half a dozen,” Ryan said.
“We’ll keep pumping stuff out on Facebook to try and generate some interest.
“Everyone is welcome to come and have a kick.”
Training is expected to begin in late-November, while Ryan continues to search for a field to train on.
