The Heaven Knows tour will celebrate Price’s 1992 album of the same name, which produced singles What’s Wrong With That Girl, Not A Day Goes By, A House Divided, Walk Away Renee and Heaven Knows.
Price’s second single Heaven Knows charted across Europe and Asia and went on to win the APRA Song of the Year award.
Now, more than two decades later, Price will be giving the songs new life on stage for the avid fans in Ballarat.
“I just thought I’m so grateful for that record and really it was a way for me to pay homage to the songs and to celebrate that record with my audience,” he said.
“They are the reason why I’ve been able to, since the release of that record, go on and write and record many albums and tour and have a career in music.”
While the first half of the show will include songs from his other albums and some new music, the second half will be the first time Price’s debut studio album is performed live cover to cover.
“Songs evolve all by themselves over a period of time and take their own course,” he said.
“I also think songs have a life of their own. I will be performing the songs in acoustic mode, so it is probably a little bit closer to how they were originally written rather than the recordings.
“It feels much more personal to perform the songs in a solo acoustic manner and I can talk about the stories behind the songs, how they were written, when they were written.”
Price said when recording the songs 25 years ago, he had not the slightest idea of what was ahead of him.
“I just never imagined that they would stand the test of time,” Price said.
“But I think that’s part of why I’m so grateful for those songs because they have been so generous to me.”
It has been a busy past 12 months for Price, releasing album California Dreaming – a collaboration with friend and colleague Jack Jones through Sony Music.
The album shot straight to number one on the ARIA Australian Artist charts and received airplay across the country.
Price only performs in three Victorian locations during his nationwide tour throughout October and November, with Ballarat one of the stops.
After the tour, Price said he would have a short holiday before returning to his home in Nashville, Tennessee, for performances in December.
After touring, he plans to return to the studio to write and record his next album.
Price performs at The Cabaret Club in Ballarat on Saturday from 8.30pm.
