The team, which started strongly last season before tumbling down the ladder to miss finals, is the only unbeaten side in division one weekend pennant bowls after three rounds.
Ballarat only won two of the four rinks at Webbcona, but big successes from skippers Zac Stewart and Brad Fothergill helped secure the 106-87 victory.
The result leaves Ballarat clear of Learmonth, which suffered its first loss on Saturday. Learmonth went down to Central Wendouree, with the Bears winning by eight shots.
Ballarat Memorial Sports also opened its account for the new campaign with a big home win against Smeaton.
Creswick tied with BMS in round two and had another tight encounter with City Oval at the weekend, but eventually got over the top to win by two shots.
The round’s other winner was Mt Xavier, which thrashed Ballarat East.
