After receiving over 30 entries in the four months since the festival’s announcement, twelve finalists have been chosen for the Saturday night screening.
Event organiser Bronny Taylor is enthusiastic leading into the weekend.
“We didn't really know what to expect being our first year, but we've had a lot of great work from the people behind the scenes to make this happen,” she said.
“I've watched most of the films and they're really good.”
The event has generated a lot of buzz, with nearly 500 people interested in the evening on Facebook.
Judging the event will be internationally acclaimed Film Producer and Director, Colin South (The Circuit, The Silver Brumby, Dogstar, John Callahan’s QUADS) and long established and experienced actor, Brett Climo (A Place to Call Home, Underbelly, A Country Practice, Myall Creek, The Man from Snowy River).
The festivities will kick off from 6pm with live music, with screenings beginning at 9pm.
Ms Taylor is already looking towards 2019’s event.
“Next year we're planning to bring it out on to (Skipton Street) to project the films onto the facade of the hotel. We want to make it bigger and better.”
