More than 2000 runners, walkers and other participants were welcomed with some beautiful sunshine ahead of the days activities.
After a somewhat deflating start to the proceedings (after the starting gate physically deflated), the first group of runners and wheel athletes took off in their ten kilometre run to a rousing applause.
Para-athlete Sam Rizzo was the first across the finish line in an impressive 27 minutes and was quick to praise the work of those involved in putting today’s event together.
“The course was absolutely amazing,” he said.
Mr Rizzo’s time could have been even quicker had he not missed a final turn.
“I accidentally took a wrong turn but oh well I guess,” he laughed.
He was quickly followed by Brady Threlfall, who was the first runner across the finish line at just under 32 minutes.
Elsewhere, music blared and activities were aplenty in the events precinct.
