With no weekend or midweek pennant owing to state championship in the Shepparton region, bowlers turned their attention to club-based events.
LEARMONTH had ideal conditions for a fours tournament on Saturday.
Bowlers from Ballarat North, BMS, Webbcona and Central Wendouree joined home entries on the greens.
The rink of Tim Griffin, Dave Perry, David Pike and Ken Stowe took the honours.
MT XAVIER hosted its annual Albie Button Memorial Triples.
Eight BDBD clubs were among the 14 teams to compete in the tournament, which featured a spider to start the day and then three games of 15 ends.
Mt Xavier rink Chris McDonald, Peter Dean and Mick Kay won, with Ross Jones, Neil Dart and Ray Bellingham runners-up.
BUNINYONG had a big Sunday with two-bowl open triples.
Tournament director Graeme Nicholson was ecstatic with the day, saying “with such great weather, and the greens in top condition, all players enjoyed a good day’s bowls”.
A total of 17 teams entered the full day’s tournament. At the conclusion of four games of 10 ends, four teams had four wins – requiring a semi-final and final to be played.
Buniynong’s Neil Ennis, Brett Ennis and club president Wayne Morgan won, with the composite team of Dave Griffen (Buninyong) and City Oval’s Ken Nunn Terry Grano finishing runner-up.
The BDBD state pairs start on Sunday, December 2.
