Sandra has two teenage children with a disability and was very nervous about going into her NDIS planning session earlier this year.
“Thank goodness Pinarc were able to meet with me and calmly go through all the things I needed to think about before my meeting,” she said.
“I am pretty pleased with how it went and even knew to ask for Support Coordination to help me get my plan set up.”
As soon as her plan was approved, Sandra started working with Dawn, her Pinarc Support Coordinator, to work out what could be covered and make the best use of her funding.
Dawn assisted Sandra to understand all the different agencies and supports that were available in the area so that Sandra could choose her providers.
Her oldest son, James, absolutely loves gardening and hopes to find employment in this area, so her priority was to link him into the Pinarc horticulture program for five mornings a week.

As the NDIS funding is totally flexible, James has decided to join the Independent Living Skills Program in the afternoons for cooking, preparation for work, barista training and physical activity.
Sandra’s youngest son, Chris, is still attending school and the most important need was a fun school holiday program to support him to make new friends and experience lots of new activities.
“To think I was worried about him starting a new program,” she said. “He said to me at the end of his first day, ‘That was just the best fun Mum, I wish I could come here every day’.”
Dawn supported Sandra by setting up service agreements for the day program and holiday program, as well as organising the speech therapy and occupational therapy that both boys needed.
Financial Plan Management was included in Sandra’s plan which means that she has been able to choose her preferred provider and have all the claiming and payments taken care of by someone else.
Pinarc support coordinators have a wealth of experience, all with a minimum of 10 years working in the sector.
“It is so rewarding being able to help people through the complicated maze of the NDIS and make sure that they are making the most of all of their funding,” Dawn said.
Pinarc support coordination is available on Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, with a duty system that means there is always someone available to help with queries.
