More than 70 children were excited to meet Santa and celebrate Christmas at a St John of God Hospital party on Sunday.
Mr Trounson said the children looked forward to the party every year.
“It means so much to them,” he said.
“Sometimes they are a bit dubious about sitting on my knee. Once they do, you get a smile and give them a bag of lollies. It is good to see.”
Mr Trounson said he can’t even remember how many years he has volunteered as Santa for the St John of God party, but has enjoyed seeing it grow every year.

Children were treated to a barbecue and lollies, go karting, face painting and fairy floss.
“It means a lot to me. I just love seeing smiles on the kids’ faces,” Mr Trounson said.
“They look forward to us coming every year. The kids just love it.”
St John of God Ballarat Hospital Auxiliary volunteers held their annual Christmas cake stall on Thursday to fundraise for the hospital.
