The club was thumped by close to 100 shots at the hands of Ocean Grove in round eight, but returned to winning form on Saturday.
Buninyong proved too good for fellow Ballarat District Bowls Division side Webbcona, recording its third win for the season in the process.
There was three rink wins for Buninyong in the 91-84 triumph, which has elevated the team over Webbcona and into seventh spot on the table.
Despite the victory, finals still seems a longshot for last season’s BDBD division one premiers, which are 38 points adrift of the top four.
Webbcona has slipped to eighth on the back of Saturday’s result.
Elsewhere at the weekend, Bareena upstaged Ocean Grove in a top-of-the-table showdown.
Bareena’s 89-78 victory was also the Grovers’ first loss of the campaign, but hasn’t knocked them off the summit. It has, however, trimmed their lead over Bareena to just eight points.
There was another all-BDBD battle at the weekend between Victoria and Sebastopol.
And unfortunately for the Vics, their winless campaign continued at the hands of the Kookaburras, which prevailed by 14 shots.
Sebastopol remains third on the ladder after taking 16 points from the triumph at Victoria.
Queenscliff is still fourth despite losing its clash with Lara on Saturday.
The Cliffers were beaten by three shots and now hold just a six-point lead on the fifth-placed Lara.
In the final game of the round, Eastern Park claimed its fifth success of the season by beating Highton.
Eastern Park won the match by 11 shots.
- This Monday’s round of the midweek pennant bowls competition is the second last before the mid-season break.
After the December 17 round, matches resume again on January 7, 2019.
