THERE will be a series of closures and changes to opening times across Ballarat throughout the next two weeks due to the Christmas and New Year period.

– The Courier – Classifieds and front office will be closed to the public on December 25, December 26 and January 1, but will operate as normal other days.
– The City of Ballarat's office departments will close at 5pm, Friday, December 21 and will not reopen again until Wednesday, January 2, 2019. The City of Ballarat operations rapid response team, street cleansing/sanitation and waste collection units will continue to operate during the holiday period.
- As Christmas Day falls on a Tuesday, there will be no waste or garbage collection that day. Usual Tuesday collections will happen on December 26, while usual Wednesday waste collections will happen on December 27. Usual Thursday and Friday collections will also be pushed forward a day. The same will apply for the following week as New Year’s Day also falls on a Tuesday.
– The Waste Transfer Station will be closed on December 25 and January 1. However it will be open from 10am to 4pm on December 26 and all other days as usual.
– The Art Gallery of Ballarat is closed on December 25 and 26 but will be open from 10am to 5pm on other days.
– Ballarat Central Library will closed from December 24 and re-opens December 27. It will also be closed on December 31 and January 1. Wendouree Library is closed from December 24 and re-opens on December 27. It will also close on December 30 and re-open January 2. Outreach sites will be closed from December 24 to January 2. The Sebastopol Library will open to the public on January 2.
– Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre will be closed on December 25, but open until 6pm most other days. It will also be open on January 1 from 8am to 4pm and revert to 9pm closing time from January 2. BALC Children’s Centre will be closed from December 24 until January 9. Eureka Aquatic Centre is closed Christmas Day but open until 7.30pm other days.
- The Ballarat Botanical Gardens is open daily 7.30am to 9pm. The Robert Clark Conservatory is closed Christmas Day but open from 9am to 4.30pm all other days.
- The Visitor Information Centre is closed on Christmas Day, open every other day from 9am to 5pm.
– City of Ballarat Maternal and Child Health centres will close on December 21 and reopen January 2. Families are encouraged to phone the MCH Line on 13 22 29; the MCH Line is staffed by MCH nurses and is available 24 hours to assist families as required. There is a small team of MCH nurses working from Girrabanya MCH on Friday December 28 to provide support to newborns and very young babies. This MCH service is provided by booked appointment only.
- Immunisation services will close December 21 and re-open January 2. Immunisation services will re-open with a new 'drop-in' childhood vaccination clinic 9am -12pm in Lucas Community Hub every Thursday morning from January 2. No appointment necessary. Please bring your child's Medicare card and green health book.
– Central Kindergarten registrations can continue to be submitted online throughout the Christmas period, and administrative staff will be back on the office on January 2.
