“I’ve been in hospital myself on Christmas and the hospital can be a daunting place,” Santa Dave said. “There was a lady who was feeling a bit edgy about surgery but said she felt a lot more at ease after a visit.
“Staff love it too. There’s always plenty of staff selfies.”
This is the seventh year Santa Dave has visited Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital. He will be back on Christmas Day, after completing his global duties, for his third visit of the season.
Santa Dave sources all presents from more than 35 donating businesses across Ballarat and, with his elves busy, hospital staff help wrap.
The Wellness Centre, day oncology, dialysis, emergency, short stay and special care and maternity units have been on Santa’s list. And, of course, the children’s ward.
