Short came to the crease with the Strikers at 3-63 and produced a stellar knock of 65 runs from 41 deliveries.
The Ballarat boy and Jonathan Wells (42 from 30) put on 104 runs for the fourth wicket as Adelaide ended its 20 overs at 5-174.
Short then opened the bowling with his off-spin.
The 23-year-old did not fare as well with the ball. He bowled two overs, going for 23 runs without a wicket.
The Renegades chased down the total with five balls to spare and five wickets in hand.
Mohammad Nabi (48 off 30) and Dan Christian (49 off 27), player of the match, putting on 94 runs to lead the side to victory.
Strikers are 1-1 after two matches, Short making 13 and taking two wickets in the Strikers’ opener.
Strikers will travel to take on the Sydney Sixers on Friday
