The beloved Summer Sundays series will return to the Botanical Gardens from January 6, starting at 3pm.
Since the release of acclaimed EP Slow Gum in 2015, Fraser A. Gorman has wormed his way into the hearts of music fans and opened for some of Australian music’s biggest names, including You Am I and Paul Dempsey.
Sitting comfortably somewhere between blues and relaxed-yet-catchy, guitar-driven indie music, Gorman said it was a “good chance” for him to play somewhere he’d missed on his recent album tour.
“My music is pretty chilled out and easy to listen to,” he said. “Often the people who like to relax, just sit back and listen, are the ones that come to my shows, so (the gardens) is a place where I will feel very comfortable playing in.”
Gorman will be accompanied by musicians Fulton Street, Honey Hunter and Ruby Wragg next Sunday.
With a likeness to certain folk rock hero, (“I get compared to Bob Dylan quite a lot, I’m not sure if that’s because I’ve got curly hair and play harmonica, or because my music is similar to his,”) Gorman said his next project was soundtracks for a few Australian movies.
“I’m just trying to keep busy and keep working,” he said.
Performances later in January will feature performers Alice Skye, FLOC, Jazz Party and Magnets.
