Ballarat trainer Emma Stewart has one to her name, having saluted with Our Little General two years ago.
She will never get a better chance to add another edition of the three-year-old pacing blue ribbon event to her stunning list of achievements than this year.
Stewart has a crop of youngsters boasting talent arguably never before seen in one stable and lines up eight runners across three heats of the Victoria Derby in Ballarat on Saturday night.
Stewart regularly has multiple starters in group 1 finals and on occasions has provided trifectas.
She again has an opportunity to have a major hand in a classic, led up by Hurricane Harley (heat one) and Centenario (heat two).
Hurricane Harley is a heat favourite after drawing the pole.
He has not raced since taking out the Australasian Breeders Crown 2yo colts/geldings’ final at the end of last season in a campaign which saw him get better with every run he had.
Up to that run Centenario had earned bragging rights as the Stewart’s best juvenile, but Hurricane Harley lowered his colours in a race in which the stable had five representatives.
After drawing the outside of the second row in the second heat, Centenario is on the third line of betting behind New Zealand’s Im Another Masterpiece and NSW visitor Muscle Factory.
Im Another Masterpiece finished third to Hurricane Harley and Centenario in the Breeders Crown final.
Muscle Factory won the Australian Pacing Gold Brisbane Graduate 2yo final at the end of last season and has already claimed the group 2 Simpson Memorial in Sydney this campaign.
Nostra Ideal is third favourite in the third heat for Stewart behind Max Delight and another NZ raider Supreme Dominator – this time from the Barry Purdon stable.
Here is how Emma Stewart’s Victoria Derby runners line up:
