The Cats have been busy bolstering their list during the off-season and have now secured the services of Scott Carey from Lake Wendouree.
Carey is a strong-bodied footballer that is likely to play a key defensive role for his new club.
A regular senior player for the Lakers in recent years, Carey only featured in the reserves during 2018.
He joins a Newlyn side that has been boosted with the likes of Marcus Darmody, Boe Bish and Tristan May all committing for 2019.
Chris Dwyer and Dan Wehrung will again share the coaching duties and will look to improve on a 2018 campaign that ended with a semi-final defeat at the hands of Gordon.
Newlyn is set to open the new season with a round one clash against Springbank on Saturday, March 30.
The Cats have not won a senior premiership since 2003.
