The 18-year-old displayed brilliant execution in the pool, taking home the gold medal with a dominant, four second victory in the 100 metre backstroke.
Leighton also took home a silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay and a bronze medal in the 200 metre freestyle.
While Leighton didn't place in her final event, the 100 metre breaststroke, she still finished in a valiant fourth place with a single second proving the difference.
Leighton and her family will be returning shortly from the games in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, with her eyes on returning to the world stage for the 2023 games in Berlin, Germany.
In the lead up to the games, Leighton was training seven days a week, braving the cold Ballarat mornings to keep her swimming on track for the world stage.
