The car, believed to be a Mitsubishi Triton, was found burning just before 1.30am on the Ballarat Link Road with fire crews from Lucas quickly bringing it under control.
It continues the spate of more than 30 blazes which have happened this year.
Earlier this week, Ballarat Police Superintendent Jenny Wilson said police were looking at changing their methodology around dealing with suspected car thieves and arsonists.
"It's important for the community to be vigilant, these incidents in the outer and isolated areas of Ballarat are occurring late in the evening and overnight.
"If you are seeing people with vehicles late at night in those sorts of areas, it's really important you ring 000 or Crime Stoppers. We really need help to solve that problem."
Meanwhile, fire crews were also called out to a flare up at the site of the Mount Clear fire earlier this week.
A Ballarat City Fire Station spokesman said the flare up occurred in a stump of a tree at 11.30pm last night along Whitehorse Road but was quickly brought under control and did not pose a threat to property.
A 14-year-old boy is expected to be charged on summons with arson related offences resulting from the blaze on Tuesday which destroyed a dwelling and two cars and threatened multiple properties along Tinworth Avenue and busy Whitehorse Road.
Fire crews were also called out to reports of a fire in a drum in Jacksons Road Warrenheip at 8.30pm. The fire was being controlled by the owner who quickly put it out once fire crews arrived.
Anyone with information about the latest car fire or any in recent times is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
