Dobbyn is endeavouring to capture her second Stawell Women's Gift.
She launched a golden three years in the 120m sprint for Ballarat athletes when she scored in 2014.
Stablemates Grace O'Dwyer and Talia Martin won the next two.
Dobbyn won the tightest of all the gift heats on Saturday.
Judges took several minutes to separate her and Tayla Phillis, with just .004 seconds separating them.
Dobbyn (3.25m) clocked 14.334.
Ebony Lane (5.75m) and Kendra Hubbard (2.75m) shape as the main hopes in the heat after running 14.078 and 14.074 respectively.
Sophie Fighera is favourite to take out the title.
She admitted to being nervous going to the starting blocks.
Despite this, the Brighton athlete showed plenty of poise in the run.
She said once she hit the 100m mark she was she felt the heat was in her keeping.
Fighera believes she can find a little bit extra in the semi-finals.
Keast is hoping to make his second Stawell Gift final after finishing second in his heat.
Keast (8.75m) ran 12.533 and is going to have to find something extra to stave off Aaron Leferink (6.5m) after his 12.283 and Jara Konteh (5.5m), who ran 12.273.
