After conceding the first goal of the game the Rebels got on a roll, kicking the next 10 goals of the context to open up a 66-11 lead at half time.
The Thunder put together a greater performance in the second half but ultimately the Rebels were too strong, finishing the game with a convincing 112-57 victory.
While the Rebels registered a large win, coach Mark Greig was disappointing as the drop in intensity he saw in the second half.
"Our fist half was really good," he said.
"It's important that we get on the board early, it's always good for momentum. When the second half came around I was pretty disappointed. We clearly had a few boys look at the scoreboard and take their foot as the gas."
Forwards Jay Rantall and the returning Matty Lloyd both produced dominant performances, tallying a combined 53 disposals and four goals.
This was Lloyd's first game in around a month due to a concussion and Greig was pleased with what he say out of the 19-year-old.
"We wanted to ease him into the game by putting him forward but he's a ball magnet."
The Rebels next game will be against the Gold Coast Suns Academy in Brisbane next Sunday and Greig made it clear an inconsistent performance similar to Sunday's will not be enough to win.
"Our biggest challenge seems to be sustaining a good level of effort for four quarters. If we play like we did (on Sunday) they'll just run over us."
