The family miss Paul terribly and would like to think that during the next few years Mr Mitchell will get his life together and return to the community as a responsible person.

One loose nut
Here we are almost half way through the year and already 60 plus more lives on the state's roads than the same time last year.
Alas, a sizeable number of those have occurred in the Ballarat area.
The police cannot be everywhere all the time, they do the best they can with the available resources.
I have been driving for over fifty years, including eleven of those years as an Ambulance Officer in Melbourne, I've seen it all.
The vast majority of Ballarat's drivers obey the rules of the road, drive within the speed limits and pay attention to what is going on around them, which is more than the 'bullet-proof' minority that have no consideration for the rules of the road.
There is scarcely an intersection that is not covered with thick black tyre tracks as these 'road warriors' lay donuts.
- For this minority the rules don't apply as they speed with abandon at anytime of the day or night.
I have seen such drivers go straight through a red light. Driving was once a pleasure but not anymore.
Road accidents are still a rarity but 90% of the time it is still someone doing the wrong thing.
Motor vehicles now are packed with safety features and technology that was science fiction when I learned to drive but it only takes one loose nut to overide it all - and that nut is the one behind the wheel.
