Shahzadi Gabrielle Perez pleaded guilty to charges including driving under the influence and while disqualified, and was bailed on Tuesday, pending an appeal.

The Ballarat Magistrates' Court was told on Monday Perez was seen driving erratically in Sebastopol in September 2017, veering onto the median and drifting across lanes as she drove onto the Midland Highway.

She overtook a car at high speed on the Colac-Ballarat Road past Napoleons, and lost control of her car while attempting to avoid head-on collisions.

She spun around and struck trees on the side of the road.

Police were called, and she was taken from the scene in an ambulance - a blood sample indicated she had 0.448 grams of alcohol per 100ml of blood in her system.

Highway Patrol officers alleged she was driving between 109 and 115kmh at the time, and was suspended from driving.

She attended the Rokewood police station and was cooperative in a police interview, with the prosecution noting she "appeared remorseful".

She said she had trouble adjusting to a country lifestyle without a licence.

Prior to the collision, she "couldn't remember" how much she had to drink - it was mentioned she could go on benders involving multiple bottles of wine.

Her defence lawyer said she had a problem with alcohol and had sought rehabilitation help, and was previously in a severely abusive relationship.

Magistrate Steven Raleigh said he took that into account with his sentence, but said she had two prior drink-driving convictions.

He said he had given great thought to the sentence overnight, noting she had a young daughter.

"It surprised me that she was even able to walk, let alone drive," he said.

"It surprised me that no one was killed, herself or someone else."

As well as the prison sentence, she will have to attend treatment and rehabilitation programs, and complete an offender behaviour program.

Her licence was cancelled, and she was disqualified from driving for 10 years.

Her bail conditions include residing at a treatment facility, being of good behaviour, and not drinking or driving.
