The blitz is part of $300,000 in rail improvements and will see the replacement of 400m of rail in the section of the track near Clunes where the line curves towards Maryborough.
Public Transport Minister Melissa Horne said these works were essential to ensure the line is in good shape heading into the winter months.
Coaches will replace all services from today until Monday last service with passengers asked to plan an extra 20 minutes to their journey.
If the rail replacement work is completed earlier than scheduled, crews will also take the opportunity to complete rail maintenance on the Ballarat side of Clunes while specialist equipment is in the area.
V/Line has also confirmed that all services running to Saturday's AFL match at Mars Stadium from Melbourne and top Melbourne after the match will be all six carriage service, however there are no special extra trains which have been scheduled.
