The Vikings drew first-blood after scoring in the 16th minute at Morshead Park. The goal laid the platform for victory for the home side which successfully maintained the lead en-route to a comfortable win.
The victory snaps a three-game streak without a win for coach Michael Goodman's men who have let themselves down in recent weeks by conceding early goals.
They sit eighth on the ladder.
Meanwhile Ballarat SC have suffered a loss after going down 3-0 to Melton South on the road.
The loss marks the second of the past three weeks for the side which have now dropped to fourth on the men's state league five west ladder.
While North Ballarat City has lost its 11th straight match after going down 2-1 in their cross-conference match-up with the Goulburn Valley Suns.
A goal in the 84th minute sealed the game for the Suns who worked their way back from a 1-0 deficit.
North Ballarat City sit last on the National Premier League Victoria 2 ladder.
