Police are searching for a couple who were driving in a black Holden Commodore that collided with a truck while driving on the wrong side of the road in Alfredton.
The car had been driven across the centre median strip of Remembrance Drive, before colliding with the truck, which was carrying a bobcat.
Witnesses say they believe the car was drag racing towards Ballarat against another car, just before the crash at about 8.15am.
The Commodore has been written off, while he truck has also been severely damaged.
There are no serious injuries.
Truck driver, Carl, said his work truck was now destroyed after the incident and he was trying to find a way to remove the bobcat from the back tray.
"It's come across the median strip as I was coming up to the lights... I didn't have time to react," he told The Courier.
Another witness said the black car had driven through the lights at speed with another car, believed to be a red sedan.
The red car is believed to have hit the black car, nudging it across the median strip.
Police are still on scene and investigators are door-knocking houses in the area as they search for the offender.
Police said there were two occupants in the car that fled.
The incident followed another crash involving a Commodore this morning in Black Hill, where the drivers also fled the scene.
