Lamb numbers were similar to last week, with 19,595 yarded for the usual following of buyers. Quality was mostly good, but not as many heavy lambs were penned.
Competition was not as keen, with not all trade and export buyers operating fully. Lambs mainly eased from $10 to $20/head.
Heavier lambs were to $30/head easier on the limited number. Heavy Lambs sold to $284, with medium trade weights 22-24kg making from $191 to $222/head, to average approximately 865c/kg cwt. Restockers and feeders were very active, paying from $136 to $195 and from $80 to $114/head for plainer light types.
Merino lambs sold to $220/head. Young 1.5 year old crossbred ewes sold to restockers at $214/head. Light weight 2 score lambs 12-18kg sold from $110 to $146/head. Light trade 2 and 3 score lambs 18-22 kg made from $160 to $195/head to average close to 840c/kg cwt.
Medium trade weight 3 and 4 score lambs weighing approximately 865c/kg cwt. Heavy 3 to 4 score trade weight lambs 24-26kg sold from $238 to $269/head.
Extra heavy export lambs 30kg plus sold from $268 to $284/head.
Merino hoggets made to $135 and crossbred hoggets sold from $156 to $180/head.
The sheep yarding of 6861 eased on last week. There were larger numbers of lighter sheep penned. The medium and heavy sheep sold to strong competition to be to $10/head up on last week in places. Heavy crossbred ewes reached $278/head. Light and very light sheep sold from unchanged to a few dollars easier.
Light weight 1 and 2 score sheep made from $70 to $112 to average approximately 550c, with very light 1 scores making from $48 to $78/head. Medium weight 2 and 3 score sheep sold from $88 to $160/head, receiving from 470c to 660c, as Merino mutton averaged close to 620c/kg cwt.
Heavy Merino ewes sold from $170 to $192, as heavy Merino wethers made from $150 to $180/head.
Medium weights sold from $115 to $177/head.
Heavy Merino sheep received from 600c to 665c/kg cwt. Heavy 3 to 4 score crossbred sheep sold from $138 to $278/head to average 630c/kg cwt. Rams made from $50 to $198/head for a dearer result.

Cattle numbers reduced to 325 head this week at Ballarat, with cows making up a big percentage of the numbers.
Quality was mixed, with a good offering of young cattle suiting feeders and restockers. The usual buying group attended and operated in a firm to dearer market.
Young cattle mainly sold to restockers and feeders, at times improving 20c and reaching 258c/kg for steer vealers.
Lighter weight grown steers improved 5c, as heavy bullocks sold to 220c/kg. Grown heifers improved 20c/kg in places.
Heavy over conditioned cows eased a few cents, with cleaner types to 5c/kg dearer. Light weight cows sold either side of firm, with restockers paying primarily from 40c to 102c/kg for cows.
Numbers comprised 148 cows, 78 steers, 66 heifers, 13 bulls and a few open auction young cattle.
Vealers and yearlings sold to the trade from 230c to 270c, with feeders paying from 190c to 258c and from 150c to 182c/kg for plainer types.
Grown light weight steers sold at 230c, as medium weights sold at 255c/kg.
Bullocks made 220c and feeders paid 240c/kg. Lighter weight grown heifers sold from 190c to 205c, as heavier C4 types reached 233c, while D muscle heifers received from 228c to 231c/kg.
A few light weight dairy type manufacturing steers sold to feeders from 158c to 178c/kg.
Heavy C muscle 3 to 5 score cows sold from 190c to 235c, as the D muscle 3 to 5 scores sold from 183c to 229c, with the D2 cows making from 162c to 185c/kg.
Medium D2 and D3 score cows sold from 155c to 210c, as lighter weights made from 110c to 210c/kg. Light D1 cows sold from 70c to 90c/kg.
Very light cows sold to restockers and feeders, making from 40c to 102c and from 13c to 55c/kg. Heavy beef bulls sold dearer, receiving from 220c to 234c/kg.
