The 24-year-old has been an emergency for the Saints on seven occasions, including his last-minute dash to China for the battle with Port Adelaide.
Senior coach Alan Richardson said Hind had earned his opportunity.
"Nick hasn't put a foot wrong since joining the club," he said.
"Nick has some really strong AFL attributes with his speed and ability to break the game open.
"We're excited to see what he can do in the senior team."
Hind had a strong season in the VFL with Essendon last year and was then recruited by the Saints with pick 54 in the national draft.
Before moving into the VFL, Hind had joined East Point from Clunes, where he most recently played senior football in 2015.
Saturday's game will be played in Townsville.
