Numbers increased to 17,897 lambs this week at Ballarat, in another good quality yarding.
A mix of all weights were penned.
An excellent run of heavy weight lambs were yarded.
The regular buying group operated in a dearer market, with heavy and extra heavy lambs $10 to $20/head dearer.
The trade weight lambs sold $10 to $12/head up on last week.
Heavy lambs reached $344 for a centre record, with 10 sales above $300/head, representing 1,030 lambs.
The medium trade weights sold from $203 to $239/head, averaging 930c/kg cwt.
Trade weight lambs at times sold close to the 1,000c/kg cwt mark.
Restockers and feeders paid from $143 to $226 for lambs and from $16 to $106/head for lighter lots.
Light trade weight Merino lambs sold to $147/head.
Light weight 2 score lambs weighing 12-18kg sold from $108 to $165/head to average 850c/kg cwt.
Light trade 2 and 3 score lambs weighing 18-22kg made from $158 to $218/head to average 970c/kg cwt.
Medium trade weight 3 and 4 score lambs weighing 22-24kg sold from $203 to $239/head, or from 885c to 980c to average approximately 930c/kg cwt.
Heavy 3 to 4 score trade weight lambs weighing 24-26kg sold from $219 to $250/head to average close to 945c/kg cwt.
Export lambs weighing 26-30kg made from $249 to $269/head to average 910c/kg cwt.
Extra heavy export lambs 30kg plus sold from $269 to $344/head.
Hoggets sold from $124 to $164 for crossbreds, as Merinos reached $136/head.
Sheep numbers were back at 4982 and there was not as much weight yarded this week.
Most of the usual buying group operated in a generally firm market on the heavier sheep and a few dollars easier on the plainer lighter sheep.
Heavy crossbred ewes sold to $245/head.
Light weight 1 and 2 score sheep made from $64 to $110 to average 520c/kg, with very light 1 scores receiving from $20 to $65/head.
Medium weight 2 and 3 score sheep made from $105 to $160/head, varying from 510c to 635c, with Merino mutton averaging close to 575c/kg cwt. Heavy Merino wethers sold to $177, averaging 660c, as medium weights sold from $108 to $165/head to average close to 610c/kg cwt.
Heavy 3 to 4 score crossbred sheep sold from $132 to $245/head to average 600c/kg cwt. Rams sold from $36 to $200/head.

Numbers increased a little to 355 head at Ballarat this week, with the extra numbers mainly cows.
Quality was mixed, with most of the usual buying group operating in a generally firm market on grown steers and young cattle, easier at times on medium and heavy cows.
Numbers comprised 188 cows, 50 steers, 81 heifers, 37 bulls and young bulls, plus a few open auction young cattle.
Vealers and yearlings sold to the trade from 210c to 290c, with restockers paying from 200c to 248c and from 110c to 198c/kg for plainer lots.
The grown steers improved in spots, making 270c for light weights and from 230c to 285c/kg for medium weights.
Restockers paid from 170c to 240c/kg.
Medium weight grown heifers sold from 220c to 260c for C4 grades and from 155c to 200c/kg for plainer D2 grades.
Feeders and restockers paid from 170c to 234c and from 120c to 170c/kg for plainer D muscle heifers.
Heavy C muscle, 3 and 4 score cows sold from 190c to 227c, as the D, 3 and 5 score cows sold from 183c to 215c, while D2 cows made from 160c to 180c/kg.
Medium weight C muscle cows sold from 185c to 190c, as the D muscle cows received from 107c to 180c/kg.
Restockers paid from 114c to 198c/kg. Light D, 1 and 2 score cows sold from 60c to 140c, as very light E1 cows made from 10c/kg.
Restockers paid from 43c to 125c/kg for lighter cows.
Heavy beef bulls sold from 200c to 220c, as vealer bulls sold to the trade to 260c/kg.
Restockers paid from 80c to 228c/kg for bulls.
