"It's not just about confidence and momentum," he said.
"It's the consistency in doing the simple things very well. Once we do that the speed and creativity of our side can really can really shine."
Robinson has said across the season that short lapses of concentration have been deadly for City and was pleased that his side was able to play good intensity for 90 minutes against the Victory.
"Our intensity and focus was where we would want it to be going forward... it's about performing in the critical moments of the game."
City will face the Rangers on Saturday afternoon at Epping Stadium.
