Chrome-bumper motoring enthusiasts were quick to buy-up the first official merchandise for The Fridge, the annual swap meet that embraces the freezing cold in the Central Square car park. Some swap-goers made clear they were keen to send the keepsakes overseas to motoring friends in the United States.
Visitors came from across the state and South Australia to The Fridge for the event, which just lasts the morning.
Ballarat Road Rodders president Bayden Roberts hoped members' work to lift the club profile, including on social media, would help to both build the event and promote what Ballarat had to offer.
"We're trying to get our name out there but also Ballarat and how beautiful this city is to visit," Mr Roberts said.
"A lot of people were driving into town on the Saturday afternoon, to avoid black ice and frosty early morning conditions. They were staying overnight and making a weekend out of it.
"We plan to hold more car events like this in town."
Ballarat Road Rodders are set to celebrate their 50th anniversary next year. The club has been hosting the swap meet for 44 years - nickname The Fridge stuck a few years ago but Mr Roberts said it helped add a little difference to the event.
The Fridge focuses on cars and motorbike parts and merchandise. Those with a chrome-bumpered vehicle could park for free, adding to the car show.
Planning is well-underway to rev-up the Rodders' annual Rod Run in November.
