But Bacchus Marsh siblings Blake, 20, and triplets Grace, Harrison and Sienna, 9, took to the ice together at Ballarat, laughing and smiling as they completed laps around the rink.
"It's good to see her able to participate in something like this. We would never have thought we'd be able to take her ice skating and it's wonderful they allow a wheelchair to be on the ice," Ms Corbell said.
Ballarat Council extended the family an invitation to come ice skating after their request for wheelchair access at the recent Wiggles concert at Civic Hall was ignored and they found themselves seated in the third back row with Sienna's wheelchair at the end of the row where she could not see the stage.
The family put their experience on Sienna's Facebook page to educate followers about the challenges that disabled children face.
After hearing about their experience, the City of Ballarat invited the family ice skating and organised tickets to another Wiggles concert, which the family will attend in Geelong on Sunday. The Wiggles also apologised and promised "something special" for Sienna and another chance to enjoy the show.
"It's hard and you get down when something like that happens, but the community came together and agreed it was not acceptable and backed up .. and things change," Ms Corbell said.
"We just wanted to put some attention on some of the challenges disabled families face ... and make people aware and if staff at a venue see something happening similar to what we had, that they can try and change that. Hopefully staff might be trained to be more understanding and aware if it does happen."
Ms Corbell said she was thankful and grateful for the widespread support that their Facebook post received, and the quick response from Ballarat Council and The Wiggles.
