Trashlanders, premiering at the Daylesford Town Hall on July 26, is a new sci-fi theatre show set 40 years in the future.
Daylesford Youth Theatre director Jen Bray says the group's new show is the result of six months' research, discussion and collaboration between 19 teenagers tasked with imagining the world of the future.
"The collaborative process is very rich with ideas," Ms Bray says.
"I might ask a question and see how the students explore that through improvisation - this is where they come up with gold.
"There is so much insight, humour and drama which comes out of the spontaneous moment."
The new show follows the troupe's success with last year's highly acclaimed Mavericks and Misfits.
"Trashlanders is another chance for our talented young performers to shine. It's a really entertaining, funny, vibrant show," Ms Bray says.
"But it's also a platform for our young people to speak to their community.
"You might be surprised at what they have to say."
Trashlanders will be performed at Daylesford Town Hall on July 26 and 28 - click here for tickets.
