With four weeks remaining before finals, only four points separates fourth-placed Ballarat North and seventh-placed Forest Rangers.
Both sides suffered losses at the weekend while the two teams in between them on the standings (Victoria Park and Ballarat) both registered wins.
Elsewhere Daylesford & Hepburn United continued its winning ways, coming away with it's fourth consecutive victory.
The side got off to a roaring start, netting three goals in seven minutes before ultimately running away with a 5-1 win over Bacchus Marsh.
The win keeps Daylesford & Hepburn one game clear of Warrambool on top of the competition ladder.
