More than 90 pupils taking part in the Ballarat Young Authors program took part in three different workshops across the historical site, learning about marketing and how to attract visitors to the site.
Throughout the year the high-achieving primary students from six local schools will take part in four days of writing activities that focus on different aspects and approaches to literacy.
Woady Yaloak Primary School - Snake Valley teacher Jo Angel has been part of the program since its inception and said it opened up new opportunities for the young writers.
"They spent the day learning about marketing, how to best describe or sell a product, in this case Sovereign Hill," Mrs Angel said.
"We are linking different forms of literacy, writing and marketing is one of those activities," she said.
Pupils created a brochure for Sovereign Hill, brainstormed to create an 85-word script for a television advertisement, and went on a photo walk with Sovereign Hill marketing director Tegan Benfield where she also explained the role of marketing for an attraction like Sovereign Hill.
Students came together from primary schools including Woady Yaloak, Pleasant St, Delacombe, Sebastopol, Buninyong and Canadian Lead.
The youngsters have been identified as talented writers with the schools coming together to pool resources and create the workshops to enrich their learning.
