The founder of the order of Christian Brothers, Edmund Rice, who took unschooled boys off the streets of Ireland and educated them, would be mortified to know that some, under the guise of his wholesome name and endeavours, have committed such heinous and depraved acts on unsuspecting young boys.

Let us not forget though, that while some 'rotten apples' have sadly tarnished the name of the Christian Brothers, many of these men have done some great work in educating our young men over many years, both here and overseas.
While the Courier headlines state that the 'Christian Brothers are bleeding millions in sexual abuse compensation' it gives us hope that they see it imperative to do what they can to support those who have been abused, keeping in mind that no amount of money will heal the deep scares that both victims and their families have endured.
