The Rebels looked like the better team for much of the contest, getting out to a 21-point lead early in the second quarter after an Issac Grant goal.
The Cannons kept working away at the lead, hounding the home side with a relentless defensive pressure that saw the deficit reduced to nine points as the sides headed into the sheds.
Dominating possession of the ball, the Rebels opened up its biggest lead of the game mid-way through the third quarter before the side's scoring halted. The Cannons siezed on this opportunity, once again slowly chipping away at the margin before taking the lead not long into the fourth quarter.
It was neck-en-neck over the final 10 minutes of action, however the Rebels just couldn't find targets in its forward 50, ultimately losing by four points.
