McCartin will be joined by Western Bulldogs great Doug Hawkins at a function at the East Point and North Ballarat City match at the Eastern Oval.
Football and netball teams will be wearing commemorative jumpers and outfits to mark the day.
McCartin has been dealing with the impact of repeated concussions, saying earlier this year that the latest has left him "a shell of a person" he once was.
McCartin, who also deals with type one diabetes, has not played since being concussed in a pre-season game in Ballarat this year.
The Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre houses the Wellness Centre, which is designed to meet the needs of patients both during and post treatment with the aim of empowering and supporting people with cancer to take an active role in their health and well-being.
The centre offers evidence based complementary therapies designed to offer support and information as well as strategies to deal with pain, fatigue, nausea and anxiety in a safe and healing environment.
