Wendouree man Luke Dittmann, 26, appeared in Ballarat Magistrates Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to two charges including one of intentionally damaging property.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Bob Anderson told the court that Dittmann had consumed a moderate amount of alcohol at home while watching the match in October.
But in the aftermath of the Magpie loss to Geelong, Dittmann struck his fist through a plaster wall in anger and smashed a family photo, which he was the owner of.
Another occupant of the house called police who then attended.
When interviewed by officers the Collingwood supporter admitted he caused the damage because of “my own stupidity”.
Defence lawyer Jacob Torney said Dittmann was still living in the rental house, which had been fixed up by a friend.
Mr Torney quipped that the father-of-one was not only unfortunate in his actions.
“I think he’s also disadvantaged by his choice of football team,” he said.
Magistrate Kay Robertson gave Dittmann a six-month good behaviour bond without conviction, and ordered him to donate $200 to Uniting Care.
“I know Collingwood fans were fairly upset but that’s no excuse for damaging things, it is frightening,” she said.
Sergeant Anderson said Dittmann had caused about $200 damage to the property.
