Ballarat Carols by Candlelight, a not-for-profit organisation, launched The group on Thursday morning.
It includes talent from hit Ballarat performances of Cats, Mary Poppins and The Boy from Oz - stepping up to carry on the tradition from the region's churches.
The new event will sing out at City Oval on December 22 and is billed to be in mold of Melbourne's iconic Carols by Candlelight at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Real estate company Harcourts has signed on as a presenting partner and has support from City of Ballarat.
Organisers have confirmed Ballarat Carols by Candlelight will continue raising money for the 3BA Christmas Appeal, which supports almost 4,500 families via welfare agencies Uniting Ballarat, Anglicare, St Vincent de Paul Society and the Salvation Army each year.
Longtime appeal ambassador Peter Caligari has been named patron for the new event.
Carols By Candlelight has been a long-standing tradition in Ballarat, dating back to the 1950's on Lake Wendouree's 'View Point'.
The event was also long known as Eureka Carols and held in the Eureka Gardens before moving to North Gardens and, last year, in Mars Stadium.
