The 25-year-old man, now believed to be from Warrnambool, has also been charged with 32 offences.
The offences include theft of a motor car, aggravated exposure of a police officer to risk by driving, seven counts of reckless conduct endangering life, twelve counts of driving in a dangerous manner, unlicensed driving, four counts of failing to stop after an accident, four counts of failing to exchange a name and address.
He had been in hospital under police guard since Monday.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Geelong Magistrates' Court this morning.

TWO women have been charged following a police pursuit on Monday morning.
Police were called to Cobblebank, near Rockbank, after reports a car had been stolen.
It is alleged a Nissan Ute was stolen from a nearby service station on the Western Freeway about 5.20am.
Police pursued the vehicle on the Princes Freeway, near Lara, before intercepting it and arresting three people.
A 23-year-old Mount Pleasant woman and a 30-year-old Dandenong woman were interviewed by police on Monday and were subsequently charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possessing a drug of dependence and weapons offences.
Both women were bailed to appear at Geelong Magistrates' Court on January 20.
A 24-year-old Sebastopol man is still in hospital under police guard.
Police will interview him at a later date.
