The couple watched Richmond's 2017 AFL premiership win at Punt Road in months after Amy had given birth to their son.
They were hoping 2019 would be Year of the Tiger again with Amy heavily pregnant, due in a couple of weeks, this time opting for slightly more low-key but upbeat atmosphere.
"We live nearby, it's an easy walk and a bit of a vibe here," Mr Byrnes said. "We're keeping it simple."
They opted to visit The Sporting Globe which, while unbiased with balloons for both clubs, was definitely Tiger friendly. Michael Karfut, behind the bar, and Ebony Calaby, waiting tables, made their allegiance clear - head to toe in Richmond gear.
There were no clear Greater Western Sydney fans in sight during The Courier's visit, providing a place for Tiger fans to ride the journey together in Ballarat.
James Keogh, who hails from Adelaide, roped in his mates to watch the game with him.
Mat Bourgeois, from near Byron Bay, and Tom Reidy, from the Gold Coast, say they traditionally watch the game from a pub up north and finding in Ballarat most locals tend to opt for a barbecue at home.
"I'm a Tigers supporter and just wanted to get amongst it," Mr Keogh said. "I invited these guys along."
Mr Bourgeois even adopted a Tigers scarf for the afternoon, despite being a Collingwood supporter, to get into grand final spirit.
