Denahy suffered an early exit in the tournament after losing his opening bout against a fighter from Denmark.
Despite making it a close fight, the 20-year-old said he was unable to get the decision.
"He was a tall, rangy southpaw," Denahy said.
"I tried to apply pressure but it wasn't as effective as I thought it was.
"I think I could've boxed a bit better, but I'll just take it as experience and learn from it."
The Ballarat fighter was one of eight fighters selected to represent Australia at the tournament held in Yekaterinburg.
He said it was the biggest stage he had ever fought on.
"It was awesome walking out to the ring and getting to watch fighters from different countries and learn how they train." he said.
"It was a big eye opener."
