Tauelangi, 19, checked into the game with five minutes remaining and the Rising leading by two points.
Melbourne unfortunately couldn't hold for the victory, conceding a try with only minutes left in the game to go down 40-36. Tauelangi made a pair of passes in his five minutes of play.
Melbourne Rising captain Semisi Tupou told The Courier earlier in the season he believed Tauelangi has a lot of potential as a professional player.
"He's definitely an exciting player, one to look out for," he said.
"He hasn't been playing rugby as long as most of his teammates so I think he's got great potential and think it's exciting to see what he can become."
